~ A Distinctly Moroccan Flavour

The Concept.

The menu at IZZA has been chosen with care by British chef, Paul Weaver. As a result of visiting a number of local vendors in the souks within the Medina — as well as organic farms — a sharing concept was formed that is focused on local, seasonal and sustainable produce. IZZA’s dishes aim to showcase the best Morocco has to offer, combining traditional cooking methods with a European influence and Mediterranean flair.

The intimate restaurant and rooftop bar is open to both hotel guests and visitors.

Our Dishes.

True to the House of Friends concept that is core to IZZA, the lunch and dinner menus consist of sharing plates, including sea bass carpaccio, crab & leek croquettes, charred cauliflower, seared fillet of beef tagliata and monkfish tagine. All-day snacks, such as smoked aubergine batbout with calabrese pesto and a spiced lamb burger with tzatziki, fries and house relish are also available to enjoy while basking in the sun on the rooftop terrace, by one of IZZA’s cooling water features or in our tranquil library space.

Our Chef

AHMAD ELHARDOUM

Ahmad’s passion for combining cooking and the hotel industry goes all the way back to his childhood, where he worked with his brother in a small hotel in their hometown of Errachidia in eastern central Morocco.

After gaining a diploma of technician in hotel management, Ahmad specialised in cooking and, over the last 15 years, has worked as Chef de Partie in a number of well-known hotels and restaurants in Marrakech. These include Crystal Pacha, The Kenzi Menara Hotel, the Hotel Le Palais Paysan and, most recently, as Chef de Cuisine at El Fenn.

Whatever the time, our chefs offer a fusion of Moroccan, Arabian and Mediterranean influences from locally-sourced ingredients to suit all tastes. Perfectly complemented by cooling drinks, well-selected wines and expertly-mixed cocktails.

Locally sourced ingredients are used wherever possible in our dishes, liqueurs, cocktails and tonics. By supporting local growers, pickers and vineyards we help both artisans and entrepreneurs and ensure the culture and traditions of Morocco can be tasted on every plate and drunk in every glass.

Journeying to the terrace restaurant at IZZA is akin to traversing through a living museum of contemporary art. Every step is an intimate embrace with world-class artistry, starting with the powerful gaze of Leila Alaoui's subjects from her 'Les Moroccains' series, embodying our cherished 'House of Friends' philosophy.

As you ascend the stairs, Ethiopian artist Yatreda beckons you into a mesmerizing dance of 'motion portraits' across nine screens.

The terrace unveils yet more masterpieces.

A breathtaking Refik Anadol Generative AI Data painting, inspired by millions of images captured by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. The vast cosmos might feel closer than ever at this moment, and as the charm of outer space lingers, you're then grounded by 24 large scale photographs from Sebastian Salgado's evocative Amazonia series.

BE AMONG FRIENDS AT ‘BILL’S BAR’ ~ In tribute to the mythical socialite and Marrakech aesthete - American interior designer Bill Willis - our deliciously deviant bar cannot wait to share its high-society secrets.

The original Freedom Seeker.

A young Bill Willis left home to find his future and settled in Marrakech whilst forging a legendary career as interior designer to an array of famous, creative and entrepreneurial emigres who began new lives here. A notorious bon vivant, Bill was the ultimate host. At IZZA, our bar celebrates both his magnetic charm and his notoriously hedonistic celebrity soirees.

A decadent place to enjoy drinks, its floor is a tribute to one of his projects, the recreation of Rick’s bar in Casablanca. The zellige and tadelakt walls are hand-carved with numerous delicate candlelit niches. Our expertly-tendered bar offers a myriad of local and international spirits, tonics, mixers and well-shaken (or stirred) cocktails to revive the spirit and stir the soul.
